About Me
I decided to run for the Vermont Statehouse because I believe that all the people in the Grand Isle-West Milton district need a representative who will work for them. I feel many in Grand Isle county and West Milton have felt unrepresented in the past two years, and I want to change that.
Here's a link to my voting record for 2023 and 2024. After Roe v. Wade was overturned and it came to light that our current reps voted no on the Religious Liberty Amendment, I realized that I couldn't sit on the sidelines anymore. I've spent my life making connections with people and building community, whether it was through my bookstore, my work as an EMT, through all my years of not-for-profit work and my current work on the Grand Isle Select Board and Development Review Board My work as a volunteer and Board member of the Champlain Islands Food Shelf has shown me just how many families in this district struggle to feed their families. We need more access to resources for all of the residents in this district. I fought for the rights of LGBTQ Vermonters when I worked at the Pride Center of Vermont. We've seen a rise in hate crimes, even here on the Islands recently, and this needs to stop. As cancer survivor, I advocate for other patients as a member of the University of Vermont Medical Center's Patient Advisory Board. I believe everyone deserves equal access to justice. My job at the Vermont Bar Foundation showed me that many Vermonters do not have access to legal representation because they can't afford a lawyer. I believe that political discourse has become so partisan that we've forgotten how to listen to each other. This needs to change or the divisions in this country will grow deeper. I want to listen, not just with constituents, but other lawmakers. |
